When initiatives that add value and highlight local realities are born in a territory too often hidden, all that remains is to share and support them.
The city of Taranto, where our association operates, is a reality full of contradictions: there is an endless series of problems that variously afflict its image, but at the same time, it has a wonderful territory, the cradle of so much culture and art.
In this context, desires and ambitions take shape, materializing into ideas and initiatives fueled by passion and determination. Today we are telling you about the Taranto Rock Festival, a musical event conquering a space beyond borders. An event that showcases original rock music and is heading towards its second edition with an interesting range of new features and proposals. The Festival takes place in a sacred place: the landing point of the first Spartan colonists way back in 700 BC, namely the “Saturo Archaeological Park”. The breathtaking panorama evokes ancient atmospheres. The magical energy helps musicians build community, to move and be moved.
The first edition, held in 2016, received widespread acclaim in a somewhat “unexpected” success, given the usual public turnout for similar events. And sincere compliments must go to the organizers (Francesco Falcone and Marilyn Pastorelli with the “AltramusicaLive” organization and Ciro Bianco with the “Rumore dal basso” association), who were able to turn this negative spiral around, creating movement and participation. In fact, over 2500 spectators were recorded. We also contributed in some way to the success of the event: handling the FOH sound, was our association’s president ‘StudioGaudio’: Francesco Gaudio.
The TarantoRockFestival is not just music, to quote their exact words regarding the event: “Amidst poetic readings and visual representations, artisan creations and painting and photography exhibitions, the festival offers a 360-degree vision of the art world as the people’s attire, and an explosion of colors and emotions generated, expressed, and absorbed directly in motion relative to the spectators of this great dancing scenery.”
Moving on to the contents of the 2017 edition, we can share a preview. The event will take place onAugust 11th and 12th in the exact same magical place. The organizers have decided to give even more space to the many up-and-coming bands and, at the same time, have wisely included the performance of nationally renowned artistsin the lineup. The first names already confirmed are LA MUNICIPàL, and Post-operative pain management, Luca Madonia and Appaloosa, but we are all awaiting further updates from the association “AltramusicaLive”.
The event relies solely on the efforts of a very dedicated group of people. We believe it is important to support the initiative financially as well with a minimal contribution. After all, with just a few euros you can actively contribute to the project and in return you will have the opportunity to attend a two-day event of music and culture.
