These days in October, in the city of Taranto, a mysterious musical novelty is sparking a lot of discussion.
Furce’ is the name of a band, a group of friends, or perhaps a collective of famous artists, or probably a bunch of losers. This entity presents its first track accompanied by a truly respectable videoclip.
‘U pescator’, this is the name of the single. A difficult job, romantically ancient, yet still relevant in the splendid city washed by two seas. Furce’ seems to evoke a mantra, a few phrases in a local dialect, repeated over a modern and hypnotic hip-hop beat. As if spending a whole life at sea can make time less constant, as if passing down love is an endless constant.
‘Tutt l giorn scittat mmiz a mar’, the most beautiful of hardships for a fisherman. Just like the immortality of this passion, passed down by the father, and even before that by the grandfather and the grandfather’s father.
We think Furce’, whoever they might be, has something to say, but certainly not their name.
